To have an open-minded personality, one must understand and appreciate their own culture and personal histories, and are open to the perspectives, values and traditions of other individuals and communities. I have an open-minded point of view because Milwaukee taught me the different traditions throughout the diverse city. Also, another example is demonstrated in literature and performance where we had to read the book "A Small Place". This book helped me have an open-minded characteristic because the English gained sovereignty of Antigua and many locals weren't given an equal right of money, careers and freedom. From reading this book, I learned that seeking and evaluating a range of point of views are paramount in understanding different cultures to have an open-minded trait. From this experience on reading "A Small Place" I can say that the values and traditions will follow throughout my education. This is because I learned that the book connects into many of the social issues in our society. Having an open-minded viewpoint in school is important especially with socratic seminars since everyone is speaking their opinion.
